My First Blog
So far in my digitally Mediate teaching & learning class, I am learning a lot on our online presence can change one’s view on us, and how anything involving oneself can affect us professionally and personally. If your online presence, such as social media like Facebook is inappropriate, we may not be taken seriously in the professional world, where some sites such as LinkedIn is usually based solely on ones career path. Now a days you can find anything out about a person with a simple google, so how you are seen online can be very detrimental to one’s future. About 34% of potential employeers state they look into a prospective employee’s social media accounts(Cassidy,2012). This bing the case proves you should really take into consideration how you portray yourself online. For example, some of the posts I share could paint me in a younger party stage of life, which is untrue, while all my recent photographs are of my daughter. I do not have anything on my Facebook page career wise, but if an employer was to look up my page, I could see this affecting me in a very negative way, which I am now working on “cleaning up” my page to be taken as a serious adult, where my LinkedIn account may be currently outdate, it does show me as a serious adult with hopes on a future in the education field. My Pinterest has many boards however the most pinned on are lesson plan boards whether it be past or present.

If you want to inspire young learners, you need to inspire yourself first!
Digital citizenship is very important, while being product on technology, you must portray yourself in a positive way, the more negative outlook you portray the easier it is for someone else to pant a picture of you in the wrong opinion. There are a few steps in digital citizenship, such as digital commerce which is the act of trade goods or products with money, communication the way one perceives themselves online ina verbal form, such as how one speaks to another(Ribble,2011).
In a technology filled world, you can find out anything about anyone online, nothing is private anymore, even if it says private. Take facebook for example, my page says private but you can see most of my page such as an about me section or my profile picture displaied below. Unless something is copyrighted anyone can use your information without your approval. Providing a copyright stamp helps someone provide written agreement to allow someone else to use your information in their own work(N.A.,2015).
Knowing what i know about digital citizenship i have a lot of work to do to potrary myself in a better light, such as being care on the meme’s I share and where they come from, using proper language and manners, make sure i do not fight verbally over the internet, or be seen as a cyberbully. i will even try to go as far as watching my typos. As well as trying to remove any picture comment or so forth that may possibly put me in a poor light. Since my pages are not copyrighted I need to remember any and all information, such as the above photo of my daughter may be seen or used elsewhere. No one is perfect, but digitally i will do my best to make sure i am see in the correct light i would like to be not in the light of someone having the chance to degrade me or have negative thoughts about me.
